It is May and I am ready to go camping. Being a Minnesota girl, having moved from the Big City of Chicago, I am ready to relax by a fire and enjoy the simple camp life. When I lived near the big city, I didn’t much care for camping, probably because my dad always made a project out of every detail. But over time I have learned to love it, especially because I get to do it with my husband, and he is a lot more chill about everything.

But camping, has opened my eyes to a simpler way of living. We don’t bring a big camper or have a kitchen stove that we lug around with us. No. I like to cook over the open fire when I can, but sometimes I have a small Coleman stove that works really nice. Being outside, hearing the birds, squirrels, and sometimes larger wild life all around us, makes me feel more connected to the world that God created. I have seen so many new and exciting things since starting camping, that I wish I had started sooner.

I love being in God’s nature this time of year. It helps me relax and refocus. What do you do, to reconnect with God and refocus on what is truly important?
