Is the Lord your portion?

You may be asking what does that mean? Let us review verses 57-64 and see what the Psalmist has to say…

  1. Are you keeping God’s words?
  2. Have you thought on your ways? Living Godly?
  3. Are you excited to know more about God and his ways?
  4. Do you remember Him? How often do you spend time with God?
  5. Are you thankful for God’s direction in your life?
  6. Are you a companion of Godly people?

Right now, you might be thinking…whoa…that is a lot to ask, I am just a new Christian. How can I be expected to do all those things? Yes, it may seem overwhelming but remember verse 57 Thou art my portion, O Lord… and verse 64, The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy.

As a Christian you are God’s child and need to fully depend on Him as a source for mercy, protection, guidance, blessings and joy in your life. (Psalm 121)

God loves you so much He sent His son Jesus Christ to die on Calvary so that you can one day be with Him in Heaven. He also desires a personal relationship with you.

But relationships require work from everyone involved.

Psalm 145:8-9 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

God will do His part. Are you willing to do yours?
