This week I challenge you with Matthew 21:1-3

1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, 2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.

This seemed like a simple request but let’s look at it from the two different perspectives.

1. Disciples: “Go and take someone’s ass and colt” – that is stealing. “Just say “The Lord hath need of them.” and a stranger is going to allow us to take their animals?” “This was not going to be easy!” “Donkeys don’t like strangers, it is going to be a struggle to get them to come.”

2. Owner: “It is Passover there are hundreds of people coming through the village we need to watching for thieves.” “Two strange men are taking the donkeys! How will we survive without them?” “Do we try to stop them, will the men hurt my family?”

But what did happen?…

Mark 11: 4-7 And they (disciples) went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him. And certain of them (owner) that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? And they (disciples) said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they (owner) let them go.

The disciples obeyed and the owner fulfilled the Lord’s need.

What can we learn from this?

  1. When we obey God’s commands He will provide even when it seems difficult.
  2. The owner was willing fulfilled the Lord’s need.

God has already fulfilled your greatest need – Salvation! John 3:16-17

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

God can use you to meet another’s need!

Are you willing?

This week to find someone who has a need and fulfill it!

P.S Have you ever notices what is on the back of a donkey?
