Have you ever started you day saying “Lord I got this!” then something happens…well that is what Peter might have been saying in the verses below.
Matthew 14:26-31 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Peter was with the Lord daily, listening to His teachings and he stepped out in faith to go to him. BUT Peter took his eyes off of the Lord and began to sink.
Just like Peter, we can feel confident that we are where we are supposed to be in our Christian walk but then we allow worldly things distract us. Life happens and we allow things like sports, vacations, work and family take our focus off of the Lord. Are these things “evil” no but we cannot allow them to distract us from following the Lord.
Take a few minutes and ask God to help you keep your eyes on Him throughout your day!
