This thought may be a little longer, but… oh well.

In the Christian Life we often have battles. The Bible talks about putting on the armor of God and being ready for whatever may come our way. It is amazing to me how God has given us every tool and weapon we need to defend ourselves. And the weapon is the word of God.

Now I’m not talking about us going out and verbally attacking people with God’s word. No! What I’m referring to is the little things in life. The things that just drive us nuts enough to be frustrating, like a headache that won’t go away, your coffee pot breaking when you desperately need some caffeine, a client showing up an hour early when you’re just not ready, and sometimes simply just being exhausted when you know you should be spending extra time in your devotions because you missed a couple days. These are all things that are battles in our lives. And if we’re not careful those little battles can turn into big issues later on if not addressed.

The key is using God’s word, our weapon, to help us step foot into those battles in the right way. I know even though I have missed my devotions for a couple days that God is still with me and reminds me of verses I have learned in the past. I know that with God’s help I can greet my client that showed up early with a smile. And even though I don’t have caffeine in my system, God allowing the sun to shine through my window can give me the energy I need to start my day.

There are hundreds of verses in the Bible that can encourage us, calm us, and protect us from our emotions going crazy from these little battles that enter our lives.

What are you using today to fight your battles? Or are you letting the situations/battles overwhelm you? The things in life can determine our responses if we let them. But the Bible instructs us to have control of our responses by going to God in prayer and reading his word. What are you doing with your battles today?
