“Good morning. It is time to get up. You’re going to be late.”
Ten minutes later as you are still struggling to get out of bed. “Breakfast is ready.”
Now your up, because you know that today is pancake day. Yum.
Ok, we all know that only part of this is actually what would happen in real life. The fact that we never want to get up or that we are running late is a universal fact. But I do wish that breakfast would be waiting for me. I would probably find that worthy of my getting out of bed on time for once. But why is that? Why do we struggle daily to get out of bed, maybe with a hint of motivation?
I think it is because we forget who we get to spend the day with. We fail to remember all the wonderful blessings he has provided us. Or maybe because we are always late, we forget that he is the purpose behind everything in our lives. “You know to whom I am referring.”
If we thought about what Christ has done for us, what he is still doing for us, and that we can walk and talk to him throughout our days, shouldn’t that make it where the covers come flying off the moment our alarm sounds in the early morning? It should. So maybe it is us that needs to make the change, so that our motivation in the mornings is focused on what is truly important, a day well spent with God.
