Spring is always filled with wonder, adventure, and excitement. As the snow fades away with the warming of days, the colors of nature begin to unfold. Trees begin to bloom and the grass peaks through the dormant ground. The little furry creatures awaken and come out of their winter homes to see the sunshine on the new world around them. Even we humans become a little more peaceful.

This is a time of year that no matter where I am or how difficult a situation may arise in my life, I can always find a little joy in simply looking out my window at all the beautiful wonders that God has created. I listen to the songs sung by the many types of birds in the woods behind my home. I feel the warm breeze brush a hair out of my face, and I think “How great a God we truly have.”

Why can’t every season of life be like this? Everyone knows that spring brings happiness. Businesses market the season to help raise sales. There are even many exclusive train trips during the spring to show off the different landscapes and views.

What makes it so amazing? How can we feel that way all the time?

I think a big part about spring being so wonderful is that it follows winter. And I come from Northern Minnesota so our winter season is from the beginning of October to sometimes the end of May or the beginning of June. That’s anything between 6-8 months, which is a very long time. We definitely get the winter blues this far north, so when spring comes, we get really excited. The idea of getting out on the lakes and enjoying our limited time for tanning gets us full of energy and joy.

As believers in Christ, we are not supposed to get our joy from the changing seasons. In fact, our joy can be greater than when the snow melts away and the sun constantly shines.

Psalm 28:7 – The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Because of our Saviour’s wonderful sacrifice providing us with salvation, we always can rejoice. Because he promises to always be there for us, protecting and providing, we can have joy. He is a God that wants a personal relationship with us,… Wow. Just having someone always there to listen and then take care of all our problems and worries, we can have joy. Knowing all that He does for us, honestly there is nothing that should take away the true joy He alone can provide. For a true believer in Christ, it is always spring.
