The Bible teaches that God established two institutions one is the Church, which we talked about earlier, and the second is the Family.  The Family and Church are meant to work together to make a strong foundation for spiritual growth and service to the Lord.

In the book of Genesis 2: 15-25, God gives the basis of the first home. God said it was not good for Man to be alone. He created Woman to be a helpmeet for man. The was the first marriage.

In Mark 10:7-9 gives us further details telling us that a man will leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife and they will be now considered one flesh not to separate until death.

After marriage the man and women are then to “be fruitful and multiply” have children. Genesis 1:28

These three units – Husband, wife and Children are then to work together to establish a treasure here on earth.

Proverbs 15:6a In the house of the righteous is much treasure:

A home needs to be a place happiness, peace, love, order, praise, respect, kindness and forgiveness.

It needs to have God at it center not just on Sunday when you go to church.

Deuteronomy 6:5-7 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Remember, Christian homes are not perfect they will have pressures and troubles. Serious problems can arise. The wonderful thing is that you are not alone when they happen. You have the Holy Spirit and hopefully a good Bible believing church family and pastor that can help you through those difficult times.

I challenge you this week to read the three Psalms below, they give you a wonderful picture of the Christian home.

Psalm 127

Psalm 128

Psalm 131
