I don’t know about you, but there are things in my daily life that just become monotonous and I don’t want to do them, like cleaning the dishes, vacuuming my floors, or even simply getting up to go to work in the mornings. It can become a battle that I just don’t have the endurance to keep doing day after day.

This can also happen in our spiritual race, especially if we go into it with the wrong attitudes. Spiritual endurance takes faith… Faith to follow the Lord’s way, resist temptation, and focus on the finished results rather than on the actual work.

As believers, we are not supposed to depend upon ourselves for the strength to endure.

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Physical strength – allows you to do heavy lifting and labor for the strenuous tasks you have. Inner/Spiritual strength- enables you to keep going when faced with challenges that cannot be overcome by physical might alone (like prolonged illness, ridicule, loss of a loved one, or even difficulty focusing on a tiresome task).

“Finishing well in one monotonous, every day duty is one step towards completing a faithful life of constantly choosing God’s best.”

Sometimes it is hard to understand, all that God allows into our lives as already been filtered by His loving hands, for our good and His greater purpose – meaning that he won’t ever give us more than what we can handle with his guidance and help.

It is when we try to control uncontrollable situations that we exhaust ourselvers physically and mentally, leaving us in a place where we start to believe the lies of “No one cares.” or “I’m not good enough.” Don’t go there. Discouragement is only a distraction from God.

1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

David could have let his situations distract him and cause him to give up, but he found his strenfth to keep going in God. We need to do the same.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

Trust in His Word, not in your feelings. Build your endurance today by having quiet time with the Lord, meditating on His word, and worshipping with others. I promise you, it will help you moving forward in your race today.
