I was thinking about beauty today and how so many woman feel like they aren’t beautiful because they don’t fit into the world’s small standard of it, size 4 and down. Then I thought about what if instead of the minority of women being represented as the ideal beauty type, what if curvy women, size 16 and up, were the real beauties. On average there are more woman that are outside the “beauty” standards than not, and that is because if the beauty industry identified with the majority of women for beauty, they wouldn’t make any money. They hold to this small image of beauty, saying that all women should strive for it, so that they can bring in the big bucks that are spent on products, treatments, and surgeries; all the things that change who a woman is, so that she can be considered beautiful.

This to me is so sad. We were not created to all look like one thing. God created diversity and he sees all his creations as beautiful. So, why do we allow ourselves to be fooled by those only looking to get a profit off our insecurities, dictate how we view ourselves.

And gentlemen, please reassure your girl today that they are beautiful, because more likely than not she doubts herself far more than she is telling you. Women need to be told they are beautiful, and encouraged to view themselves through God’s eyes rather than the worlds.
