I saw this picture today and was reminded about a cross I saw every time I drove home from school with my mom. It wasn’t a big fancy cross that cost a lot of money, but one that was made from scrap wood. And it stood up on a small hill on the side of the highway for years, simply reminding people, like me when I was a little girl, that Jesus loved me so much to save me.
I once heard a story about a man that had placed a cross near a road, much like the one I saw as a child, but then he was instructed to remove it because it wasn’t on his land. Well the property that it stood on wasn’t really useable because it was so near the highway and it was too expensive. But then he had an idea, so he talked it over with the land owner. The land owner agreed to sell the man a square foot of land, just big enough for the cross to stand on, so that it could remain for all to see. Now with the deed for the land in hand, no one could ever make him remove the symbol that meant so much to him and that he wanted to share with all those that drove by.
Does the cross and the meaning behind it means that much to you?
