When you buy a cabinet that says “assembly required,” do you open the package and dive in or do you read the instructions?

Be truthful, now…

I have to admit – I am a manual reader. Not only will I read the entire instruction booklet, but I will also set every piece out and make sure that I have all the tools on hand. A bit over the top right!?! After all the creator of the cabinet included the instructions to help me so that it would be easier to manage building the cabinet.

Well, when it comes to our lives, God has done that for us too. He is our Creator and knows the very number of hairs on our heads. He has provided an instruction manual – the Bible.

Life’s Instruction Manual

Many people go through life thinking, I know what is best for me and let their conscience guide them. But although this sounds good. The Bible warns us about our conscience being defiled, seared, and weak.

Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.”
1 Timothy 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1 Corinthians 8:7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.

Others in life choose to let “Religion” guide them. But the Bible also warns us about how man’s traditions and standards are unreliable.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

The Bible, the Word of God, is the unchanging authority for life.

Hebrews 3:6 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

The manual for the Christian life is the unchanging Word of God. It provides all the parts, tools, diagrams, and details to help us live a strong, functional, and blessed life.

The Bible is the foundation of everything we Christians base our lives on. It serves as a guide, showing us how to act or react to all the events in our lives. It is the unchanging authority for a Christian. Together, we will explore what the Bible is, why it can be trusted, and how to use it as a child of God. The next few posts will help us understand the importance of the Bible in our lives.
