“Why is it so hard to do what I know is right?”

All Christians have had that very same thought throughout their life, often more than once. Why do we struggle with sin after we are saved?

The moment we trust Christ as our Savior, many wonderful things happen, one is that we are born again. We have a spiritual birth, called the New Man. This New Man, a spiritual man, cannot sin. It is born of God and is perfect. The New Man helps us to do the things of God such as going to Church, reading your Bible, witnessing, praying, and growing in the Lord.

Here is the problem, we were physically born with an Old Man inside us. This Old Man, a carnal man, cannot stop sinning and is the complete opposite of the New Man. The Old Man does not want anything to do with the things of God and will keep you from growing in the Lord.

There is now an ongoing struggle inside you for your WILL!

You must understand this struggle so you can learn how to help the right Man to win!

Here is an example – think of two dogs fighting one is weak because it has not eaten in months and the other dog has a regular, healthy diet. Which of the two dogs will dominate? The well-nourished one of course!

We as Christian have to choose which man to feed – the Old Man or the New Man.

Will you choose to go to go to a party or go to church?

Will you choose to play video games or read your Bible?

Will you just walk by an unsaved person or witness to them?

Will you watch TV or take time to pray?

Will you spend time browsing on your phone or go study your Bible?

Who will you choose to feed?

When you determine to walk in the spirit and feed the New Man, you will not feed the desires of the Old Man.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
