Getting to Know Him

As a young Christian one of our main focuses should be getting to know our Savior, Jesus Christ. This means making choices that will help us do just that. One great way to start, is to surround yourself with other Bible believing Christians.

As we go through life many people cross our paths. I am sad to say, that not many are going to be as eager as you when it comes to Bible Study, devotions, going to Church, and making God a priority in your life. You need to make a decision about your walk with the Lord.

Are you going to make Jesus Christ a priority in your life?

Flashback to October 1988.

It was just weeks after getting to Bible College, things seemed to be going well, I was settling in, had a job, a place to stay and enjoying the classes I was taking. BUT friends from home had been speaking to me about whether my decision to go to Chicago for Bible College the right one. They were questioning the college, teachers and even some of the Bible studies that the school had me doing. Causing me to be uneasy about my decision. I had clearly seen God open the doors for me to go to college and close door at home all leading me to go to Chicago. Why would my friends NOW not want me here?

What do I do?  I PRAYED — Psalms 55:22 – Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Through my prayers and Bible reading God directed me.

Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. – Did my friends in Colorado want me to grow as a Christian? -NO, they thought I had made a foolish decision to go to college study about God.

Proverbs 27:17 – Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. If I went home, will these friends help me learn about God. NO, I would not have the same opportunity to study God’s word as I was currently doing in bible college.

I had made a decision in Colorado to make the Lord a priority in my life. Now time to make a decision about who I am going to let influence me? …old friends or a new one, one that will never forsake me Jesus Christ. Hebrews 5:13b “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Well, needless to say, I MADE MY CHOICE, I finished Bible College and have been serving the Lord for over 35 years. The Lord has blessed me beyond my biggest dreams.

What will your choice be? Will you make Jesus Christ a priority in your life this year?
