As the new year is just hours away many of us will choose to make the traditional New Year’s Resolution. What will it be this year? Diet, exercise more, the list can go on and on. But truthfully how many of us make those “promises” but don’t keep them?
What if I can introduce you to a friend who is faithful, responsible, honest, concerned, loving, forgiving, patient, gentle, and always there to listen?
What would you do to have a friend like that?
I am sure you are saying to yourself, “There is not a person who is that good. “
There is one person who has all of those qualities. Are you willing to work on a friendship with that person knowing for a fact they can never change? Are you willing to spend time with that person? Will you listen to what they have to say to you? Will you learn from their example? Will you open up to them about your fears and dreams?
If you said “YES” to any of those questions, please let me introduce you to my best friend JESUS.
God makes many promises in His word about our relationship “friendship” with him. I am going to share just a few with you.
He will never leave us.
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation (life) be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
He promises to meet our needs.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
He cannot lie.
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
He understands our heart aches and pains.
Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
He loves us unconditionally.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
He loved us beyond our understanding.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
He forgives us.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
He is patient.
Psalm 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
He hears our prayers.
1 John 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Psalm 6:9 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.
Make 2025, a year where you find your BEST FRIEND! I am challenging you to work on your friendship with the Lord. Read your Bible and pray asking the Lord to help you know Him better. If you miss a day, start the next day, remember God is forgiving. Spend time with Him every day, even if it is only just a few minutes. You will be surprised at the blessings you will see in 2025, if you choose to put effort in your relationship with God.
Remember He will never change Malachi 3:6a For I am the LORD, I change not.
But you can!!!
Happy New Year!
